Thold causing 500 error, PHP Error

Post by jmiller »

After installing thold, I get a 500 error on the web page, on the thold tab, the settings menu, and other menus related to thold.
Other functions of Cacti still work fine. Its a new install.

Info:
Fresh 1.2.23 Cacti install via dnf in AlmaLinux 9
thold is the latest (1.5.2) but its reporting version 1.8 in the plugins window.
selinux permissive
all files and folders in plugins owned by apache:apache

Log: I get this error when I click anything related to thold:
2023-08-15 17:03:45 - CMDPHP PHP ERROR Backtrace: (CactiShutdownHandler())
2023-08-15 17:03:45 - ERROR PHP ERROR: Uncaught ValueError: Unknown format specifier "D" in /usr/share/cacti/include/global_languages.php:523 Stack trace: #0 /usr/share/cacti/include/global_languages.php(523): sprintf() #1 /usr/share/cacti/plugins/thold/includes/arrays.php(509): __() #2 /usr/share/cacti/plugins/thold/thold_graph.php(34): include('...') #3 {main} thrown in file: /usr/share/cacti/include/global_languages.php on line: 523

I uninstalled the latest thold and installed 1.0.3. It works fine, or at least I don't get any errors when clicking on it
I tried a few other random versions, and they don't work. Only 1.0.3 works, but Monitor needs at least 1.2.1

Version 1.3.0 gave me this error.
2023-08-15 17:04:59 - CMDPHP PHP ERROR Backtrace: (CactiShutdownHandler())
2023-08-15 17:04:59 - ERROR PHP COMPILE_ERROR in Plugin 'thold': Array and string offset access syntax with curly braces is no longer supported in file: /usr/share/cacti/plugins/thold/thold_functions.php on line: 4301

Anyone have any ideas?

You downloaded a development release that is designed for Cacti 1.2.25 not yet released. The last tag is what you should go with.

I installed thold 1.0.3. Monitor wouldn't install though, stating that thold version 1 was required. Thold 1.0.3 was definitely installed and active though.
I tried a few different versions of both monitor and thold. Finally, I found a combo that would install. Thold 1.5.2 and monitor 2.3.4.

I spoke too soon. Now I get.

Action failed
Sorry, we could not process your last action.
Save Failed due to field input errors (Check red fields).

all over the place in Cacti. It goes away when I disable Monitor.

I might suggest that you update to the 1.2.25 release. We are frozen right now. So, you just a few few days yet before you can download the official release, but unless there is some new bug that comes along as a blocker, it's basically ready to go.

It's been delayed for quite a while and frankly I'm so glad it's finished as this new release has been a big distraction for me in much of my plugin and Cacti develop work in the last several months.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
